Help me Lose my Mind (Disclosure Gig Review)

I wanted to write a mini review of the concert I went to last week. Disclosure performed in the Olympia in Dublin as part of Heineken's highly successful 'live project.' For this reason, tickets were free and therefore like golddust. They sold out in four minutes. I was very lucky to procure a ticket last minute but the atmosphere at this gig was unbelievable. Mainly because I think everyone felt intrinsically lucky and happy to be there.

In theory I should not like Disclosure. On the cover, they are an electro pop / dance duo which is quite opposite to what I would look for in a band description. But i think there is a huge difference between generic 'charting' dance music and well written dance music like Disclosures. They are not afraid of making mellow songs, in fact most of the album is surprisingly chilled. With colllaborations on the album from the likes of Ed MacFarlane (of Friendly Fires fame), Eliza Doolittle, London Grammar, Jamie Woon, Jessie Ware and Alunageorge it was bound to be very promising and the album feels amazingly like a cohesive whole despite numerous collaborative tracks.

The 18 and 21 year old siblings opened with the infectious 'When a Fire Starts to Burn' followed by the sultry 'F for You,' one of the few songs sung by Disclosure themselves which is just as excellent as all of their collaborative tracks. 'White Noise' blew the roof off and with 'Latch' closing the show, everyone was thoroughly satisfied. They are excellent to see live as they play most of their instruments live and do not just mindlessly play pre recorded backing tracks which is a testament to them (see their mini rebellion against a music festival not allowing them to play live here). They played for an hour and a half which was more than eniugh time considering we were all knackered afterwards!

Build Yourself a Myth

fashion blogger, aztec pattern, fashion blog, irish fashion blogger, urban outfitters
Jeggings: Topshop
Copper Shirt: Bennetton
White Jumper: Penneys (Primark)
Brown Riding Boots: Shutterbug
Chain Necklace: River Island
Aztec Coat: Urban Outfitters
Two years ago I went into Urban Outfitters and spent two hundred euro on two coats. I was broke for ages afterwards. I'm a bit crazy like that. While the second coat I got years of wear out of, this one has not been out nearly enough. And it should get out more because it's very cool. I love that the fur is attached, I think fur adds such drama. It is not the warmest one i have so needs many layers but it is a travesty that I don't wear it out more. It is such a perfect college day coat.

I had an AMAZING time and Disclosure on Friday. I am in the process of editing the pics and reviewing the concert. I think Disclosure are absolutely phenomenal so keep an out for that post during this week.

Sunday Inspiration: Tartan

I know I know. I am absolutely jumping on the bandwagon with this one but I really am loving this tartan trend going on at the moment. I think it is such a fun pattern and a bit grungey which I really love. All I have that is tartan is a scarf but I have my eye on a skirt/ pair of trousers so watch this space...

Your Hands are Curling up Like Floating Leaves

Polka Dot Shirt: Topshop
Floral Pants: Zara
Cream Furry Coat: Topshop
Burgubdy Scarf: Urban Outfitters
Burgundy Brogues: River Island
Brown Leather BackPack: Market
This outfit is quite a departure from the norm for me (in my eyes anyways) for the following reasons. 1. There is not one ounce of black on my body in this outfit (!!!!) 2. There is not one ounce of Penneys on my person in this outfit (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and 3. This outfit is all high street - no vintage/ no second hand. It is also brighter than I'm used to wearing but I am loving this idea of winter pastels at the moment (as exemplified by my recent wishlist.)

I am currently getting ready to head in to see Disclosure live which I CAN NOT WAIT FOR I AM SO EXCITED IJUSTWANTTODANCESOMUCH. The concert sold out in 4 MINUTES and I managed to procure a ticket last minute. I am literally the luckiest girl in the world. Keep an eye out for pictures later next week.

All Part of the Open Pressures of Growing Up

Trousers: Penneys (Primark)
Leopard Print Cross Tee: Urban Outfitters
Coat: Zara
Hat: 9 Crow Street
Boots: Vagabond @ Chelsea
Laptop Case: PC World

Back to college after a week off hence my laptop case seeing as I am spending my day drifting throughout the library. I loved these pants so much I bought them in a size 14 and got them altered to a size 10 to fit. That, my friends, is dedication.

I have mentioned 9 Crow Street on this blog a few times and they have just opened their new store in Dublin. We went to visit it on Saturday and it is so pretty and chic. I picked up this hat and ring and I would have bought more if I had the money! I even got a hug from one of the owners because I had been such a regular on the website. I clearly need help with my spending habits.

November Wishlist

 photo c3af4518-d451-4022-a161-5362aa1c9cd3_zps29c5e13b.jpg
1. Topshop Plaid Coat
2. Pandora Ring
3. Topshop Cropped Jumper
4. Avoca Scented Candle
5. Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer
6. Ted Baker Purse
7. Wildfox Bel Air Sunglasses
8. Nike Free Runs
I am kind of lamenting the absence of a lot of winter pastels in my wardrobe hence my out of character pink wishlist. I am loving the plaid trend and am yet to invest in a plaid garment. Although I love this coat I am not sure I can justify adding yet another coat to my collection. These sunglasses will be eternally on my wishlist as I can not find a good knock off pair and can not afford the real ones.

The Kevyn Aucoin Skin Enhancer is something I have seen praised on a few beauty blogs and I am looking for a new heavy foundation for nights out. I have ordered it in SX07 and hoping all my research on the shades will pay off! I am also planning on getting free runs, hoping they will inspire me to actually go running (HA). Also thinking of asking for a reasonably priced Pandora ring for Christmas (seeing as I sacrificed my entire expensive ring collection to a Cretan sea) and this one caught my eye in the store.

What is your favourite??

Gotta Rock Steady and Stay On Track

fashion blogger, fashion blog, irish fashion blogger, blogs, fashion, clothes
Jeggings: Topshop
Tweed Coat: Penneys (Primark)
Guns' n' Roses Tee: Penneys (Primark)
Fur Collar: Ebay
Black Chelsea Boots: Vagabond @ Office
Gold Spike Chain: H&M

Wore this to finally track down my best friend whom I never get to see on account of us both being horrendously busy. We had burritos and we both bought hats. A successful day on all accounts. I managed to lose my tweed coat from Penneys (thank goodness it was cheap) so I reinvested and bought another one. You will never meet someone with worse luck for losing items than me. Being, as I am, on Iphone No. 6, I cannot have anything of value on my person if there is going to be alcohol involved. One drink and I clearly must start throwing my valuables around the place.
