Room for Improvement

So apologies for me being intrinsically excited about a bathroom but the tiles in my bathroom were cracked and wrecked for long that having a new bathroom has been the biggest luxury. We went for a large white tile with a grey grain and silver finishes. It looks so clean.

We then obviously went to Ikea and I decided I wanted to buy a few simple funky coloured items to contrast the white. I love how a few simple things can spruce up a room.

Even my retainer case is in theme.
This shower mat feels SO GOOD and comes in a varitey of funky colours

If It Gets Rough, It's Time to Get Rough

Leopard Print Shirt: Second Hand
Denim Shorts: Urban Outfitters
Tights: Penneys (Primark)
Boots: Office
Fur Collar: Ebay
Sun Glasses: Urban Outfitters
This outfit is such a mess that I ended up loving it. Threw it on during my exam study period hoping that I could pass off my study grime as 'grungey'. How did I do?
Ahh My Trusty 3 Year Old Office Boots
They look even better with age.
Survived three Irish winters and counting, so a definite an investment
My Amazing Urban Outfitters Sunnies- You can still buy them here!

Amsterdam

Amsterdam: The Canal by Night
I would describe Amsterdam as quirky, liberal and beautiful. An amazing city to visit. I came away from my short visit there having decided that I would have to live there at some point in my life, even just for a summer. It is just such a mix mash of different cultures living side by side one another. There is, literally, something for everyone in this city.
Rachel (left) and I on the Canal. I'm Wearing:
Black Leather Jacket: Vintage, Harlequin
Jeans: Topshop
Denim Shirt: Second Hand
Black and White Jumper: Forever 21
Fur Collar: Ebay
Black Boots: Riding Boots, Equipet
Central Station
Beware of the bikes! They will mow you down in Amsterdam
Gorgeous, quirky Cafe by day, music venue by night (raised platform doubles as a stage)
We visited the Dappermarkt which specialised in cheap clothes and food. It was good for some cheap items and we found a nice vintage store, but I would not recommend if looking for one of a kind or quirky items.

The Met Gala 2013 a.k.a Celebs Are Incapable of Dressing to a Theme

I don't know about you guys, but there is nothing I love more than attending a themed event. I relish a them. I planned last year's Halloween outfit for three months. I already know what I want to be next year. My friend is holding a BBQ on Saturday and my friends insisted he make it Coachella themed just so we could dress up like we're binned at a festival.

The Met Gala 2013 was 'punk' themed. Therefore, if I was a rich celebrity and there was a themed event I would go ALL OUT even if I could not name ONE punk band. Not only would I extensively research the era and significance of the theme but if I could not find something suitable I would PAY someone to design and make me an outfit because I would be a celebrity and very very rich.

First of all I feel it is necessary to feature those who attempted to dress to theme but obviously got really confused half way through planning their outfits (i.e 90% of attendees). The fact that most people heard 'punk' and said 'oh I know I will dress like I am starring in an 18th century period drama' is extremely worrying:

There was a lot of nice gowns, a lot of gowns I was like yeah that's cool (hey Cameron Diaz) BUT I WILL NOT FEATURE THEM HERE. I am only featuring those who dressed extremely well AND appropriate to theme. Is that too much to ask for?? Yes, apparently so.

These were my Met Ball THEMED favourites:
The only time I will EVER admit that that haircut works. Because in real life, it just doesn't work.  Love this.
A lot of bloggers have been iffy about this. Dangerously close to the period drama  class, but I love it.
Chilling - she made white lace punk. Fact.
One blog complained this was just a white dress with punky accessories. I do not care.
If your punky accessory is a long haired men in a bowler hat then power to you.
COMMITTING TO THEME. YES.
Fancy Her.
The only bitch to rock a mohawk hat. Because, OBVIOUSLY.
I do not know why so many people thought that wearing black (Dakota FanningEmma Watson and about two thirds of the rest of the guests) or a turban (I'm looking at you Chloe Sevigney) was punk. I don't know why so many people just had no idea what event or theme they were dressing for (Hailee Steinfield, Zooey Deschanel)

But the uncontested winner of TAKING THE THEME TOO LITERALLY instead of adapting to the theme to suit the event is Madonna. Madonna, NO.

All photos and their links to be found on my Pinterest. Did I miss someone? Who were your favourites?

Always Look at the White Sky and Lose Your Head in the Clouds

Denim Shirt: Shutterbug (Second Hand)
Cream Joppers: River Island
Print Scarf: Market, Madrid
Brown Boots: Shutterbug (Second Hand)
Gold Chain Necklace: River Island
I thought I got it right today. I thought I was suitably dressed for sunny weather to be cool enough but covered enough to withstand the cloudy spells. Nope. Today was SPECTACULAR weather. I was roasting. Way too warm for my equestrian boots and any semblance of a scarf. Well, there is always TOMORROW.

I love the colour and pattern of this scarf. I love that it cost me only two euro even more.
Forever getting wear out of my second hand Riding Boots from Shutterbug

Mingin Face Monday

WHO IS THAT BEAUT? Yep. I can contort my face when needs be. And if you are wondering what the hell Mingin Face Monday is about click here
Are you jealous of my brows?

This is apparently my study face
My blog has suffered on account of my having too much fun and also finishing up my college year with exams. I have pretty much begun my summer holidays and am very optimistic about my four months off. I hope to spend most of it at festivals so we will see how that goes. The time off from blogging has made me think about what I want to do/ change about my blog. One of my main things I want to do is broaden the content. I love clothes and shopping but I also love music, books, travel and film so I want to broaden my blog to represent those interests.

My look posts will now be titled a song lyric - that is not an original never-been-done-before idea but I think it is relevant because my clothes and style have always been linked to/ influenced by the music I listen to in such a big way. And I want the lyric to say something about the outfit also - kind of like 'if this outfit was a song it would be...' kind of way. Spotify has changed my life (that sounds dramatic but it is fact) and I want to add some playlists of sorts to my blog for some fun.

One week out of the three weeks we have for exam study time I spent at a friends house in Connemara in Galway (that is the West Coast of Ireland). It was not relaxing it was pretty MAD as we were all just hyper all the time but lots of fun. This part of the world is also SO BEAUTIFUL. I am so lucky to have it on my doorstep.
Believe it or not we DID go swimming despite the temperature

Myself (left) and my beautiful girl Orla, I'm wearing:
Galaxy Leggings: New Look
Leather Jacket: Harlequin
Black Velvet Top: Second Hand
Beanie Hat: Topman
Trainers: Vans
As soon as the time came for studying, the weather started to turn towards amazing, which seems typical of exam period. Despite the huge amounts of intense studying I have been doing (sarcasm) I have also been doing a lot of eating and lying out on the grass OUTSIDE the library rather than being in the library reading books. I also figured out how to do panoramic shots on your iphone which unleashed a whole new realm of fun (I am getting good at doing it without contorting everyone's face/ chopping people in half).

Three Hour Long Sunny Study Breaks
My Last Exam (the FINAL STRETCH) is tomorrow and then I am officially on Summer Holidays.
FUN.
